When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions must always be followed. To reduce the risk of electric shock, this vacuum cleaner has a polarized plug; one blade is wider than the other. This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet.

Your SEBO X series vacuum cleaner is the most technically advanced upright vacuum cleaner in the world. Along with its excellent filtration system (99.9% to 0.3 microns), one of its most important features is its ability to “monitor” the resistance of the brush roller against the floor, so that the proper cleaning height is consistently maintained.

If damage occurs, stop using the vacuum cleaner immediately! The standard brush roller on your SEBO vacuum is appropriate for most types of floor surfaces. However, a soft-bristle brush roller (X4 part # 5010 GE or X5 part # 5290 GE) that is designed for use on sensitive looped-pile carpets and/or hard floors is available for an additional charge.

The AIRBEL D4 model is a powerful, full-size, ultra-quiet, canister vacuum cleaner with three on-board attachments, a giant 1.5-gallon bag, an unmatched 40-

Bags are Better! – Top-fill, three and four-layer bags are an integral part of SEBO’s filtration system because they hold virtually all dirt captured by the vacuum, which improves the effectiveness and useful life of the microfilters. They also ensure continuously strong suction because dirt enters from the top, deposits at the bottom, accumulates upward, and air exits through the sides, which allows unimpeded airflow as they fill to capacity. And they can be sealed when full, so no dust can escape into the air during bag removal and disposal.

In contrast, without bags to hold nearly all the captured dirt, the microfilters on bagless vacuums quickly clog from excessive dirt build-up and must be replaced often, or a loss of suction and cleaning effectiveness will occur. In addition, dust and other allergens become airborne when emptying bagless dirt containers. Lastly, bagless vacuum microfilters are expensive, usually costing more than a multi-year supply of SEBO filter bags.

Pre-motor Filters – Pre-motor filters clean suction air after it passes through the filter bag, but before it passes over the vacuum motor. Cooling the motor with clean air is important because this increases useful life expectancy.

S-class Exhaust Microfilters – S-class Exhaust Microfilters (S = “Schwebstoff” = airborne particles) are made from electrostatically charged micro-fiber material, which attracts and captures dust particles from the airflow of the vacuum after it passes over the motor to cool it. This means that exhaust air is cleaned to the highest level. The S-class Standard requires filters to absorb greater than 99.9% of particles down to 0.3 microns in diameter. For comparison, 100 microns is the diameter of a human hair. Their advantages are a relatively open texture that allows smoother airflow for better suction performance, a longer life expectancy, and they cost less than HEPA filters.

        The fault symptom on this vacuum cleaner was no operation (dead) when connected to the mains supply and switched on.

        The majority of electrical appliances require disassembly to diagnose and repair faults and this is often the most time consuming and challenging part of appliance repair. Here, FRC repair volunteers Peter Dobson and Ali Buchanan describe a successful vacuum cleaner repair where they overcame the challenge of a product with a cable reel drum that was not designed for disassembly.

        Repair procedure [ edit ]

        Inspection showed a damaged mains cable about 10cm from its termination in a self-reeling drum inside the machine.

        The only way to repair this was to disassemble the self-reeling mechanism, cut off the 10cm of damaged cable and re-terminate the cable within the self-reeling mechanism. This proved to be very difficult as the self-reeling mechanism was not designed to be disassembled.

        There were several plastic pawls (small levers that engage with the teeth of a ratchet) holding the two halves of the reel drum together with a slip ring (a device that transmits power from a stationary to a rotating assembly) in the middle of the drum.

        After some consideration it was decided a ‘tool’ would need to be made to get the two halves of the reel drum apart to access the cable termination. This was achieved by cutting two grooves into an odd piece of aluminium piping which happened to be exactly the right size. The home-made ‘pawl opening tool’ was inserted inside the centre of the drum assembly to pull the four plastic pawls apart to allow the two halves of the drum to be separated.

        Once the reel drum had been taken apart the damaged section of cable was cut out, but to re-terminate the cable it had to be connected to the existing crimp pins used on the slip ring assembly. In the picture the damaged cable is just out of shot.

        The cable was cut about 20mm from the slip ring crimp pins and an in-line solder joint was made up and covered with heat-shrink sleeving. The in-line joints are not subject to stress because they are downstream from the cable clamp.

        Having completed the cable joints and checked that they were safe the reel drum was reassembled and the cable tension on the reel assembly was reset by torqueing up a tension spring that kept trying to escape!

        The vacuum cleaner was then fully reassembled and tested and now with an undamaged power cable is once again safe to use. This repair is a good example of the efforts required to repair a product that is actually not designed for disassembly and repair.

        Most products are not designed for disassembly or repair. A system for assessing ease of disassembly and reparability would be a useful guide for designers of consumer products. Although some standards are available on the reparability of electrical and electronic products, there is only one rating system on reparability, developed so far, just for smartphones, tablets and computers IFIXIT smartphone reparability. Products are rated on a scale of 0-10 on the ease of disassembly and repair, based on the availability of service manuals, types of tools needed, use of adhesives, ease of component including battery replacement and time required to disassemble. Such rating systems might provide a useful guide for product designers.

Somit ist gewährleistet, dass der Abstand zwischen Bürste und Boden immer optimal ist. Der Sebo lässt sich daher ohne Bedenken sowohl auf Teppichen als auch auf Hart-/Glattböden, letztere auch mit Fugen, etwa auf Fliesen, nutzbringend einsetzen. Die Bürste selbst wird übrigens, auch dies ein weiteres hochwertiges Detail des Sebo, über einen Zahnriemen angetrieben. Dies garantiert nicht nur eine lange Lebensdauer, sondern auch eine über längere Zeit gleichbleibende hohe Effizienz der Bürste.

        Hohe Saugkraft bei niedriger Leistungsaufnahme

        Die rotierenden Bürsten nehmen fast alles auf, was ihnen im Weg liegt selbst Tierhaare, so berichten Kunden, werden klaglos weggesaugt. Dabei sollte lediglich darauf geachtet werden, dass die Bürste gleichmäßig und relativ langsam über den Boden geschoben wird. Trotzdem genehmigt sich der Staubsauger an der Steckdose nur 1.300 Watt ein vergleichbar starker Sauger ohne Bürsten ist in dieser Hinsicht meist weniger sparsam. Die Saugkraft lässt sich allerdings nicht regulieren. Wenn demnach nur kleinere Saugarbeiten auf Hartböden anstehen, für die die Saugkraft nicht so hoch sein müsste, wird indirekt Energie verschwendet. Der Sebo eignet sich daher besser für Haushalte, in denen die Saugarbeiten dem Leistungsniveau des Geräts gerecht werden.

        Für größere Wohnungen - und größere Budgets

        Speziell in größeren Wohnungen profitiert man von der mit 31 Zentimeter außergewöhnlich breiten Bürste, außerdem ist der Filterbeutel mit 5,3 Litern Fassungsvermögen für einen Hausstaubsauger fast schon gigantisch zu nennen. Allerdings sind so viel Technik und innere Werte auch nur mit einem entsprechenden Budget zu stemmen.
