Samsung POWERbot R7070 Review

Pros / Its suction is noticeably stronger than other robot vacuum cleaners.

Cons / A few of the other units have longer warranties.

Verdict / The Samsung POWERbot can get hung up on large obstacles but has the most cleaning power of all the units we tested.

We spent hundreds of hours putting all sorts of debris in the path of the best robot vacuum cleaners on the market. When we weighed all of the test messes and added them together, the results were clear – the Samsung POWERbot cleaned up the most of any robot vac. This vacuum struggled a little to navigate around obstacles but offers so much suction once it gets to each mess that it wins our Top Ten Reviews Silver Award. The POWERbot has a few quirks but the suction is powerful and our floors looked much better when it was done with its cleaning cycle.

Performance

The suction from this unit was impressive on every type of debris and on every surface. We tasked this and every vacuum in our review with removing flour, sawdust, kitty litter, cereal and pet hair from carpet, wood and vinyl flooring. It did a great job on all of them, and a cool transparent window on top of the machine allows you to see the results of its hard work. If we were just judging suction power this would be at the very top of our robot vacuum reviews. It was especially good at getting pet hair.

There were a few issues in terms of navigation with this machine, however. It got tripped up on the edge of one carpet in our home testing over and over again that most competitors easily got over. It also got stuck under a couch and required human intervention to get unstuck. It was not even a common place to get stuck, so that was disappointing. Most others in our robot vacuum comparison cleaned under the couch and came right back out. It also got stuck on one of the larger transitions from tile to hardwood flooring. This was, at least, a very common place to get stuck during our testing. Many of the best robot vacuums went right over that threshold, though. The POWERbot got stuck and stayed stuck, again and again. It took human intervention to get this vacuum back to cleaning.

Convenience

This one is not really the best in terms of ease of use. While it does have a digital display, it is not very sophisticated and it was sometimes hard to know why the vacuum stopped when it did. One thing that made it easier to use was the fact that it didn't shut down completely every time we picked it up. When we saw this or any unit headed for cords or other trouble, we would pick them up; this is one of the few that just kept on going when we set it back down, most of the time. The others had to go through their startup routines all over again.

The Samsung POWERbot was relatively easy for maintenance. We were able to empty the bin and clean the brushes quickly and easily. It was a little loud when it was in motion but not unbearable. This is one that got stuck pretty often, though, so you will have to be around for its noisiness. It is not very self-sufficient, and that detracts from its overall ease of use.

Design Extras

One thing that makes this unit convenient is the Wi-Fi connectivity. You can control this robotic vacuum through your smartphone or Amazon Alexa. There is no carry handle on the POWERbot, which was a problem because it got stuck on a regular basis. You have to pick it up with both hands when it does get stuck. Also, if you have a home with two floors and need to take it up and down stairs, it is a little less convenient.

Warranty & Support

This product comes with a one-year warranty, which is average. There are lots of ways to contact Samsung if you have a question about the warranty or anything else. Live chat, email and phone all are available. Samsung was generally responsive when we had questions about this unit.

This was the best robotic vacuum we tested for suction, and it cleaned quickly. It even beat out a couple of the more expensive units for how much debris it collected. It struggled to move through the test home, though. Once it gets to the messes it will collect them with ease, but getting to them can be a bit of a challenge for the Samsung POWERbot. If you don't mind staying close by and coaxing it, this is a great machine, especially for pet owners. It comes closer than any of them to the suction of an upright, at least on carpeting, and it was very good at cleaning hard flooring, too. While it is not the best option to leave alone while you are at work, you could have it cleaning in another room while you are doing something else. You can rescue it when needed and be confident that it is cleaning more deeply than competitors would.

Samsung's robotic vacuum takes Amazon Echo voice commands

Samsung has revealed Powerbot VR7000, a robotic vacuum you can control with your Amazon Echo. The company says that, in fact, all of its WiFi-enabled Powerbot vacuums will work with Alexa, including, presumably, current connected models like the Powerbot WiFi. It didn't say what you can command your bots to do, but the Neato Botvac (which beat Samsung to the punch by adding an Alexa "Skill" last month) basically just lets you start and stop cleaning.

The 20 watt robo-vac is considerably smaller (28 percent) than past models, Samsung said, helping it more easily duck under couches or beds. It can also get as close as a half inch (15mm) to a wall and avoid objects as small as a quarter inch, thanks to the front placement of the wide 11-inch brush and "FullView Sensor 2.0." Other features include a self-cleaning brush, room contour mapping, adjustable suction levels depending on the surface and full remote control with a smartphone (via WiFi).

Samsung didn't mention the price or availability, but it will show off the Powerbot VR7000 at CES 2017, which starts on Tuesday, January 3rd (yep, that's in just six days). Since we of course want to command our robot servant to get cleaning, preferably while we sip a Mai Tai, we'll try to get a closer look during the show.

Samsung PowerBot VR9000

The pricey PowerBot isn't quite a clean sweep

The Good Though it didn't beat them outright, the PowerBot VR9000 kept up with Neato and Roomba in our tests, and it bests them both with its slate of unique features, including a killer point-cleaning feature.

The Bad The PowerBot lacks a side-sweeping brush to help it clean along walls, and it wasn't quite as sharp a navigator as Neato.

The Bottom Line Top-of-the-line models from Roomba and Neato each clean better than the PowerBot while costing hundreds less. We're sticking with those.

Full Review

We first spotted the Samsung PowerBot VR9000 robot vacuum last year in Berlin, at the IFA consumer electronics and home appliances trade show. At the time, it was pitched as a high-end addition to Samsung's Asian and European lineups (it costs £700 at Argos in the UK -- in Australia, it sells for AU$1,499). This year, it's available in Best Buys across the US for $1,000.

As you might expect from such a costly cleaner, the PowerBot has a few unique tricks up its sleeve, including the ability navigate to whatever spot you're pointing the remote at. It also offers satisfying cleaning performance -- but it wasn't quite able to best the top models from Roomba and Neato, each of which cost hundreds less. That makes it tough to recommend, and tougher still when you consider that a new generation of robot vacuums -- including a high-end model from Dyson -- might be just around the corner. I say wait for one of those, or go with something less expensive.

Design and features

The Samsung PowerBot isn't shy about showing off its hardware. The shiny "CycloneForce" suction system is the centerpiece: a copper-colored turbine that sits next to the translucent, centrifugal bin. The intention is clear -- Samsung wants you to be fully aware of what's going on under the hood. It's a page straight out of the Dyson playbook, and the practical benefit is that you can see when the bin is full, or when there's a clog.

Wir wollten wissen welcher Saugroboter der Beste ist, darum haben wir einige Saugroboter getestet und untersucht was die Staubsaugroboter wirklich können!

Warum der Saugroboter Test?

Wir haben seit längerem einen Saugroboter. Eigentlich haben wir nicht gedacht, dass man dieses Produkt noch weiter verbessern kann, weil wir mit dem Saugroboter sehr zufrieden waren und uns keine Funktion fehlte. Anders scheinen dass die Hersteller gesehen zu haben, die an weiteren Details, Einstellungen und Funktionen gearbeitet haben.

Ein gutes Produkt wurde somit weiter verbessert und neue Innovationen auf den Markt gebracht. Uns hat natürlich die Frage interessiert was bringen diese neuen Funktionen und Innovationen? Braucht man diese, oder sind die nur Schnick Schnack, den man teuer bezahlen muss. Was anfangs eine Idee war, hat sich durch einen Zufall schnell entwickelt. Wir haben uns die unterschiedlichen Modelle angeschaut und getestet was diese können. Die meisten Saugroboter haben wir glücklicher Weise nicht kaufen müssen, sondern konnten uns diese borgen, es war mehr ein Hobby aus Interesse an der Technik und dem Spaß am Vergleichen.

Welche Saugroboter Marken haben wir getestet?

iRobot Saugroboter

Wir haben relativ viele iRobot Saugroboter getestet, was vor allem daran liegt, dass die Roboterstaubsauger der Roomba Serie sehr beliebt sind und damit entsprechend auch in unserem Bekanntenkreis weit verbreitet. Zudem bieten die iRobots für verschiedene Bedürfnisse genau den richtigen Saugroboter. Der Roomba 565 PET ist für Hundehalter und Allergiker geeignet, der Scooba 390 ist der Bodenwischroboter aus dem Hause iRobot. Der Roomba 780 und der iRobot Roomba 790 sind die hochwertigen Modelle des Herstellers aus den USA.

Vorwerk Saugroboter

Vorwerk besticht seit langer Zeit mit absoluter Qualität im Bereich der Haushaltshelfer. Diesen Anspruch wird Vorwerk bei dem Saugroboter Kobold VR100 absolut gerecht. Wer jedoch an unmodernes Design und veralterte Technik denkt täuscht sich hier gewaltig. Vorwerk hat bei dem Kobold VR100 sowohl Wert auf Design und Technik gelegt.

Samsung Navibot Saugroboter

Hat man gedacht in dem Bereich der Saugroboter besteht kaum noch die Möglichkeit der Weiterentwicklung ist mit Samsung ein Player in den Markt eingestiegen, von dem man es eher nicht erwartet hätte. Mit dem System, dass der Samsung Saugroboter den zu saugenden Bereich kartographiert und entsprechend gründlich und effizient saugen kann hat wirklich überrascht. Egal ob der NaviBot SR8825, NaviBot SR8895 oder NaviBot SR8980, mit einem Samsung Saugroboter macht man nichts falsch.

Dirt Devil Saugroboter

Dirt Devil ist keine Marke die als großer Innovator bekannt ist, die Firma begnügt sich eher damit, günstige Alternativen von erfolgreichen Produkten herzustellen. So auch in dem Bereich der Saugroboter und hier kann man die Dirt Devil Saugroboter durchaus loben. Der Dirt Devil M606 Libero ist einer der beliebtesten Saugroboter und wird gerne gekauft. Sein Pendant, der Wischroboter Dirt Devil EVO Swiffer steht dem in nichts nach.

Klarstein Saugroboter

Eine deutsche Marke Namens Klarstein hat uns vor allem wegen des Preises überzeugt. Waren die ersten Modelle der Klarstein Saugroboter noch recht simple verarbeitet und Qualitativ nicht sehr anspruchsvoll, besserte sich das jedoch mit der neuen Serie. So sind der Klarstein Cleantouch und der Klarstein Cleanrazor durchaus zu empfehlende Saugroboter. Ähnlich verhält es sich mit dem Klarstein Bodenwischroboter.

Vileda Saugroboter

Wer hat kein Vildea Reinigungsprodukt zu Hause? Ich glaube solche einen Haushalt wird es nicht geben. Konsequent besetzt Vildea auch den Bereich der Saugroboter. Die beiden Vileda Saugroboter machen dabei einen sehr guten Eindruck. Sowohl der Vileda 137173 Cleaning Robot als auch der Vildea ViRobi sind ausgezeichnete Saugroboter bzw. Wischroboter und durchweg zu empfehlen.

Die Saugroboter Experten

Unserem Umfeld blieb das natürlich nicht verborgen, die Frage unserer Freunde: Warum habt ihr drei Staubsauger Roboter zu Hause? ist ja auch durchaus berechtig, Wir möchten diese Testen war unsere Antwort. Schnell wurden wir als die Saugroboter Experten in unserem Freundeskreis bekannt, auf Partys wurden wir mit: Ich habe überlegt einen Saugroboter zu kaufen, welchen kannst Du empfehlen? des Öfteren konfrontiert. Vielen Freunden und Bekannten haben wir dadurch ihre Roboter Haushaltshilfe vermitteln können und alle waren mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden.

Ein Saugroboter ist eine große Hilfe im Haushalt, jedoch sollte man sich klar machen, dass dennoch ab und an zu einem Staubsauger oder Besen gegriffen werden muss. Was ein Saugroboter aber kann ist die Reinigungszyklen um einiges verlängern. Als wir unseren Saugroboter gekauft hatten, war unsere Tochter genau im Krabbel Alter. Der Boden wurde mindestens alle zwei Tage gesaugt, damit die Kleine nichts vom Boden auflesen und in Ihren Mund stopfen konnte. Diese Arbeit hat der Roboter übernommen, somit haben wir alle 10 Tage nur noch zum Staubsauger greifen müssen.

Eine Freundin von uns hat eine Perserkatze, die sehr gerne ganze Haarbüschel verliert. Auf dem Laminat wehen diese Fellbüschel beim entlanglaufen wie die getrockneten Dornenbüsche in der Prärie umher. Mit dem Saugroboter muss Sie viel seltener zum Staubsauger greifen. Die Katze ist allerdings nicht der beste Freund des Saugroboters, aber das ist eine andere Geschichte.

Die Idee von dieser Webseite kommt eigentlich daher, dass wir weiterhin angesprochen werden, welche Saugroboter wir empfehlen können und im Endeffekt erzählen wir immer das Gleiche, notieren auf Bierdeckel die Namen der Roboter, weil die meisten Leute es sich nicht merken konnten, oder tippten in iPhones die Shops, wo man nach den Robotern Ausschau halten kann. Nun haben wir uns gedacht, wir können unser Wissen auch in HTML bringen und die verschiedenen Roboter vorstellen. Dabei zeigen, welcher Roboter für wen geeignet ist.

Darin unterscheiden sich Saugroboter

Viele Firmen wie Kärcher, Sichler oder Vorwerk stellen Saugroboter her. Oft fragen sich viele in welchen Merkmalen unterscheiden sich eigentlich die Sauger?

In der Regel haben die Staubsaugroboter ähnliche Maße, doch schon bei dem Gewicht kann es einige Unterschiede geben. Je nachdem wie Kompakt das Innenleben der Roboter gebaut ist, kann das Gewicht recht unterschiedlich sein. Viel Platz nimmt das Behältervolumen der nützlichen Helfer ein, diese Unterscheiden sich in der Anzahl der Liter, die an Schmutz aufgenommen werden können. Eigentlich alle Modelle brauchen keinen Beutel und kommen ohne Filtertüten aus.

Auch in der Akku-Laufzeit unterscheiden sich die Sauger. Einmal die Dauer vom Aufladevorgang und wenn der Akku geladen ist, von der Dauer der Betriebszeit. Bei modernen Saugrobotern kann man die Betriebsart einstellen, in der Ausstattung gibt es unterschiedliche Reinigungsmodi. Bei Problemen mit den komplexen Robotern hilft teilweise ein Firmware Update, welches durch automatische Updater angestoßen wird.

Sicherheitseinrichtungen sollen einen Absturz des Roboters verhindern. Entweder hat der Suagroboter entsprechende Technik an Bord, oder man muss mit sogenannten Virtual Walls arbeiten, die mit einem Infrarot Signal den Staubsauger bei der Weiterfahrt in eine Gefahrenzone stoppen sollen.

Was bei normalen Staubsaugern wichtig ist, ist die Geräuschentwicklung. So haben auch die Roboter verschiedene Lautstärken die in DB gemessen werden. Je nachdem wie stark die Motoren der Düsen sind und wie gut der Roboter isoliert ist, kann die Lautstärke stark voneinander abweichen.

Visionary Mapping System

Das Visionary Mapping System erfasst per Digitalkamera 30 Bilder pro Sekunde und erstellt so einen genauen Plan Ihres Hauses. Dadurch ermittelt der NaviBot seinen genauen Standort in Ihrem Haus und erinnert sich automatisch an bereits gereinigte Flächen. Verantwortlich hierfür sind zwei intelligente CPU-Prozessoren, die den NaviBot besonders effizient und gründlich reinigen lassen.

Nach dem Aufladen geht es gleich weiter

Wenn die Batterie des NaviBot schwächer wird, nimmt er automatisch den direkten Weg zur Ladestation auf. In nur zwei Stunden ist er wieder voll aufgeladen und kehrt zu seiner letzten Ausgangsposition zurück, um seinen Reinigungsprozess fortzusetzen.
